Iraqi President States Position on Iran and U.S. Troop Withdrawal

The President ​of ‍iraq‍ on ⁤his ⁣country’s relations with​ Iran said:​ Iraq and Iran are neighboring countries.They share long borders and have mutual⁢ interests as well as‌ historical ties.

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency ⁢and ⁣the official website of the Iraqi Presidency, Abdul ​Latif rashid, President of Iraq, ​described Iraq as a stable country moving confidently towards the future in his latest ‌statement.

The Iraqi president spoke about his country’s⁣ relationship with Washington, saying: “Our relationship with the ​United States is not‍ limited to their⁢ military presence. It is indeed a long-standing and strong partnership that we insist on expanding to cover broader areas‌ such as trade, investment, ‌energy, water​ resources, and other‍ vital sectors.”

Regarding the withdrawal of ​U.S. forces from Iraq, he added:⁢ “Consultations between ​Baghdad and Washington on this issue continue. I am confident we‍ will ‍reach an agreement‌ that ​satisfies both⁤ parties while preserving our mutual ‌interests.”

On relations with‍ Iran, ‌he stated:​ “Iraq and iran are neighboring countries sharing borders extending over 1,000 kilometers. There are mutual interests and historical connections between us that cannot be overlooked.”

He emphasized: “Iraq’s national decisions‌ are independent. Our political and economic choices are made domestically​ with pure Iraqi will-free from any external dictation ⁤or influence.”

Addressing disputes between Baghdad’s central government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG),he noted: “The longstanding disagreement over oil exports ⁤has effectively been resolved. This achievement marks an critically important step ‍toward strengthening Iraq’s⁣ unity and economic stability.”

Abdul latif Rashid also commented⁣ on upcoming parliamentary⁤ elections​ in november: “We are preparing for next November’s parliamentary elections. Holding these elections is a crucial milestone demonstrating⁣ iraq’s steady​ path toward⁤ stability. It reaffirms our firm commitment to democracy⁣ by allowing people freely to elect a new parliament-a⁢ basic move toward political renewal.”

The president touched on developments in the Middle East region as well: “The Middle East has suffered ⁣from conflicts and unrest for many years; ​now is the time to direct our efforts towards stability and cooperation.”

He continued: “We welcome recognition of Palestine‍ by some countries.This represents a positive shift⁢ reflecting justice for Palestinian aspirations-and we hope it marks the beginning of a serious process⁢ leading to successful international efforts.”
