Trump Calls Attacks on Venezuelan Boats a ‘Good Deed
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and RT, US President Donald Trump referred to recent American attacks on boats he called part of Venezuelan drug cartels. He described thes strikes as acts of kindness that have saved thousands of lives in the United States.
As September, the US has targeted and destroyed at least four boats in international waters.Trump continues to accuse Venezuela’s left-wing government of employing “drug terrorists” to smuggle narcotics into American territory.
Speaking during the 250th anniversary party of the US navy in Virginia, Trump praised the military for its role in delivering “severe blows to trafficker terrorists at sea.” He said: ”We are doing very tough work, but you have to look at it this way: each of those boats is responsible for killing 25,000 americans and destroying families. So when you see it from that perspective, what we’re doing is truly a good deed.”
He claimed these operations disrupted a vital maritime route used for smuggling fentanyl and other drugs into America. Trump added: “No one wants to take to the seas anymore!”
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro rejected Trump’s accusations that he leads or controls drug cartels, asserting that his government has eliminated ”all major trafficking networks and dismantled key gangs.”
Maduro emphasized Washington’s real aim is regime change under the guise of fighting cartels-seeking to seize and plunder Venezuela’s natural resources.
