Russian Official: Our Response to Tomahawk Supply to Ukraine Will Be Severe and Ambiguous
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Reuters via Mehr news Agency, Andrey Kartapolov, head of Russia’s parliamentary defense committee, stressed that if Washington decides to supply Kyiv with Tomahawk cruise missiles, Moscow will intercept and shoot them down and will find ways to retaliate against Washington.
On Monday,U.S. President Donald Trump said he wants to understand how Ukraine plans to use these long-range missiles before agreeing to Kyiv’s request for access. He emphasized he does not wont to escalate tensions but added he has ”somewhat made up his mind” on the issue.
Kartapolov told RIA Novosti: “Our response will be hard, ambiguous, calculated, and asymmetric. We will find ways to strike those who cause us trouble.”
Simultaneously occurring, he said even if supplied with these missiles, “he does not believe Tomahawks will change the battlefield dynamics as they would be delivered in limited numbers.”
The Russian official noted: “We certainly no these missiles vrey well; we understand their flight patterns and how to shoot them down. We have dealt with them in syria before-it is indeed nothing new.The real issue is the problems it creates for those who supply or use them.”
Kartapolov also stated that Moscow has seen no signs Ukraine is preparing missile launch sites for Tomahawks as Kyiv would be unable to conceal such activity.
He added that if these missiles are provided to Ukraine, Russia will use drones and rockets to destroy any launchers.
