Tel Aviv Alters Palestinian Prisoner List; Number of Prisoners Reduced
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al jazeera, the Hebrew-language site Walla reported, quoting informed sources, that Israel’s Shin Bet security service has objected to the inclusion of 100 Palestinian prisoners in the release list agreed upon for the ceasefire.
The report adds that names of 25 prominent Palestinian prisoners have been removed from this list.
Sources further stated that only 60 Hamas detainees out of 195 slated for release will be freed.
They explained that in the final Israeli summary,rather than releasing 250 Palestinians sentenced to life imprisonment,only 195 prisoners will be freed.
Earlier reports indicated that Israeli prison officials began transferring hundreds of Palestinian prisoners last night in planning for their release as part of the Gaza ceasefire agreement and Trump’s plan.
The Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported thes Palestinian detainees were moved from five different prisons within occupied territories to an area designated for their release.
previous reports had stated that around 250 Palestinians serving life sentences and approximately 1,700 other detainees arrested after Operation Al-Aqsa Storm in Gaza woudl be released. According to some Palestinian media citing informed sources, the prisoner exchange by Israel is expected to take place on Monday morning without any formal ceremony.
