Heavy Rain in Mexico Claims at Least 28 Lives
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and France24, severe rains in Mexico have caused at least 28 fatalities and destroyed thousands of homes.
Civil defense officials in Mexico reported that torrential rains affected 31 of the country’s 32 states, leading to river overflows, flooded villages, landslides, road damage, and bridge collapses.
the central state of Hidalgo suffered the most damage. Authorities confirmed at least 16 deaths there and said more than a thousand houses were destroyed. Rescue teams are unable to access 90 areas due to flooding and debris.
In Puebla state,officials reported at least nine deaths. The high number of missing persons suggests that the death toll could rise. Approximately 80,000 people have been affected in this state alone.
The Mexican military announced it is providing aid to flood-hit areas with over 5,400 troops deployed alongside equipment and emergency vehicles.
