Nobel Peace Prize Winner Revealed as Netanyahu’s Close Ally
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, María Corina Machado, the 2025 Nobel Peace prize laureate, is an industrial engineer and politician who entered politics in 2002 by founding a non-governmental organization called “Sumate.”
She claimed that this organization was established to oversee elections in Venezuela.
Machado served as a member of Venezuela’s National Assembly from 2011 to 2014 and later founded the right-wing party Vente Venezuela. In 2023, she emerged as the leading opposition candidate after winning over 92 percent of votes in opposition primaries. Though, Venezuela’s Supreme Court barred her from participating in elections until 2030.
NDTV reported that Bjørnar Moxnes, a member of Norway’s parliament, announced that Machado signed a cooperation document with Israel’s Likud Party under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in 2020.
Moxnes stated that Likud is responsible for “genocide in Gaza” and argued that this association conflicts with the spirit of the Nobel Prize.
The American Islamic Relations Council (CAIR), a U.S.-based Muslim civil rights organization, condemned the “unacceptable decision” to award María Corina Machado this prize.
In an online statement, CAIR called on the Nobel Committee to reconsider its choice as it undermines their credibility. Instead, they said, the committee should honor individuals who have demonstrated moral steadfastness through their heroic pursuit of justice for all people-such as students, journalists, activists, and medical professionals-who risk their careers and lives opposing what they describe as today’s crime: genocide in Gaza.
