Zelensky Asks Trump to Mediate Ukraine Peace Like in the Middle East
According to the English section of webangah news Agency, citing AFP, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke by phone with U.S.President Donald Trump, urging him to mediate an end to the war in Ukraine. Zelensky said if Trump can stop one war, ”other wars can be stopped as well.”
The call took place a day after a large-scale Russian attack hit Ukraine’s power grid, causing blackouts across parts of Kyiv and nine other regions.
In recent months, diplomatic efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict have slowed down. Kyiv attributes this partly to global attention shifting toward the Gaza conflict.
Trump announced an initial ceasefire agreement in Gaza last Wednesday and met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in August but failed to secure any peace deal.
Zelensky expressed gratitude on Facebook for what he called Trump’s “outstanding ceasefire plan in the Middle East,” describing their discussion as very positive and constructive.
he asked Trump to pressure the Kremlin into negotiations, adding: “If a war stops in one region, certainly other wars – including Russia’s – can also be stopped.”
The relationship between Zelensky and Trump has notably improved since February when they clashed during a controversial televised meeting at the White House.
Meanwhile, Trump’s stance toward Moscow has grown more opposed. In September, on his social platform Truth Social, he wrote that Kyiv should work with Europe and NATO to reclaim all its occupied territories.
