Afghanistan and Pakistan Extend Ceasefire Through End of Bilateral Talks

An Afghan government source ⁤announced ⁣the extension ‌of the temporary ceasefire between Afghanistan and Pakistan untill the conclusion of ongoing talks.

The English section of webangah News Agency,citing Mehr News‍ Agency‍ and Al Jazeera,reported that an Afghan ‌government official confirmed the ​temporary ceasefire with Pakistan will ‌be extended until negotiations between the two countries conclude.

Previously,PakistanS Ministry of foreign ⁢Affairs expressed ⁣concern over Taliban attacks on Pakistani territory through⁢ a formal statement.

The ‌ministry stated: “Instead of⁣ placing blame, the Taliban should honour their commitment not to allow ‍their soil to be used for terrorist attacks against other countries. Our⁣ forces repelled attacks‍ along the border with Afghanistan, inflicting heavy losses on Pakistani Taliban and affiliated terrorist ​groups.”

pakistan’s Foreign Ministry added: ⁤”In responding to these militant assaults,​ we exercised utmost caution to prevent civilian casualties. The pakistani Taliban attacks aim to⁢ destabilize the border region and ⁢undermine neighborly relations⁤ between Pakistan and Afghanistan.”

Islamabad further noted: “during this temporary⁣ ceasefire,both Pakistani and‌ Afghan ⁢parties have made every ⁣effort to find⁣ a constructive ​solution through dialog. We believe in diplomacy and⁤ continue monitoring developments ⁤closely. We remain‌ committed to protecting our country.”

This declaration comes after Zabihullah Mujahid,spokesperson ⁣for Afghanistan’s interim government,stated⁤ on Wednesday that‍ at Pakistan’s request,a 48-hour ceasefire would begin at 5:30⁢ p.m. local time ‌on Wednesday. Although this ⁢ceasefire period has ended as⁣ scheduled,according ‌to the ⁣Afghan government source cited by webangah News Agency,it will remain in effect⁣ until negotiations yield results.
