Security Incident After Al-Mashhadani Assassination: Shooting at Iraqi Election Headquarters
Sources in Iraq reported another security incident following the assassination of parliamentary candidate Al-Mashhadani, involving gunfire directed at the campaign headquarters of another candidate.
Iraqi sources told webangah news Agency that armed unknown assailants opened fire on the headquarters of a parliamentary election candidate in southern Baghdad, injuring two people.
the Iraqi outlet added that this attack occurred amid growing concerns over election integrity and openness as the voting date approaches. Similar incidents have been reported in other parts of Iraq.
This shooting took place days after the assassination of safaa Al-Mashhadani, a prominent parliamentary contender, in Baghdad’s Tarmiya district.
Iraq’s parliamentary elections will be held on November 11,2025,to elect 329 members. The newly formed parliament will than select the country’s prime minister and president.
