Rising Insecurity in Central Syria: Armed Attacks Target Civilians
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing mehr News Agency and al Mayadeen, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has confirmed an escalation of violent clashes in Homs province. Members of the Alawite community there have been targeted by unidentified armed groups.
The report states that at least eight people, including two women, have died in these attacks over the past three days. Insecurity has intensified in Homs, located in central Syria.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights added that since the start of this year, at least 359 people have lost their lives due to similar incidents amid ongoing instability across Syria.
Earlier this month, several Syrian Christians were also attacked by unknown assailants in western Homs.
