What Is the New Concrete Step of the PKK?
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Rudaw and Mehr news Agency, sources have confirmed that the PKK will take a new step in the peace process tomorrow.
The PKK announced its plan to carry out an action aligned with Abdullah Öcalan’s call for dissolution and disarmament at a press conference held in the Qandil Mountains.
media outlets affiliated with the PKK reported today that under Öcalan’s directive and decisions made at the party’s 12th Congress, members of the group will make another historic move tomorrow.
During this press conference,an official statement will be read outlining this new step in the peace process. Members are expected to undertake measures that appear to involve relocating groups from one area to another.
A senior source within the KCK institution told Rudaw that this conference is set to take place on the slopes of Qandil Mountain in Sulaymaniyah province.
The source described this as “the first practical step” taken by the PKK.
It is noteworthy that on February 27, 2025, Abdullah Öcalan called on PKK members to lay down their arms, convene a congress, and dissolve their party. Afterward, from May 5 to 7, during its twelfth congress, the PKK decided on self-dissolution.
In connection with this process, on July 11, at a ceremony held inside Jesna Cave near Dukan district’s border in Sulaymaniyah province, some PKK members burned their weapons as a goodwill gesture aimed at supporting peace efforts in Turkey.
