Independent Palestinian State Haunts Netanyahu Cabinet’s Hardline Minister
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, Bezalel Smotrich, Israel’s far-right Finance Minister, once again emphasized the necessity of applying Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank. He described the idea of creating an independent Palestinian state as dangerous.
Smotrich also criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, claiming that Netanyahu does not raise the issue of annexing the West Bank in his discussions with U.S.President donald Trump.
He further asserted that if Trump understood the importance of West Bank annexation for Israel’s existence and identity, he woudl change his stance on this matter.
This comes after Trump warned Israel last week following approval of a draft plan to annex parts of the West Bank. He stated that if Israel proceeded with annexation, it would lose all support from Washington.
