British Pro-Palestine Activist Arrested in the United States
According to the English section of webangah News Agency,citing Mehr news Agency and Al Jazeera,Sami Hamdi,a british journalist and political analyst known for criticizing U.S. and Israeli policies regarding the Gaza conflict, was arrested at San Francisco Airport.
Muslim civil society organizations have attributed Hamdi’s detention to pressure from pro-Israel lobby groups in the United States.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations called the move ”an attempt to silence critics of Israel” and urged the UK Foreign Office to demand an explanation from washington regarding Hamdi’s arrest.
The council also announced plans to take legal action to prevent Hamdi’s deportation from the U.S.
Some media outlets have reported that far-right groups and activists supporting Israel, including far-right figure Laura Loomer, played critically important roles in instigating pressure leading to Hamdi’s detention.
