According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al Jazeera Qatar via Mehr News Agency, Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on Palestinian affairs, said that countries supporting the Israeli regime have participated in genocide in Gaza. She added that residents of the area continue to suffer death, hunger, and displacement while 10,000 Palestinians remain imprisoned by Israel.
Albanese emphasized that she disregards personal attacks against her. She declared that what is being loudly voiced are calls for an end to the brutal genocide in Gaza and ethnic cleansing in the West Bank.
She also demanded accountability from countries complicit in continuing arms supplies to Israel amid these allegations.
Referring to Palestinian prisoners’ conditions, Albanese noted that while Israeli captives have been able to return home, 10,000 Palestinians remain detained inside Israeli prisons.
She stressed that Israel must dismantle its settlements and put an end to imposing an apartheid system against Palestinians.
Albanese called on Italy to stop defending Israel and sever its commercial and economic ties with it.
highlighting there is no ceasefire in Gaza, she added: “People continue to be killed, die from starvation, and face forced displacement.”
In response to US sanctions imposed against her personally, Albanese said: “I am the first UN expert sanctioned by a country. This is an insult to the entire international community.” She asserted these travel bans are illegal and violate the United Nations Charter.
The UN Special Rapporteur concluded by addressing accusations about receiving financial support from Hamas: if anyone can provide documented proof of such claims, she pledged to resign from her position.
