Mass Execution of 2,000 People in Al-Fashir Over Two Days

Joint armed forces in Darfur announced that Rapid Support Forces executed over 2,000 people en masse after seizing ⁣control of El Fasher.

The joint ‍armed forces in Darfur, located in western Sudan, accused‍ the rapid support‍ Forces (RSF) of killing 2,000 civilians in El Fasher on October 26 and 27, ‍according to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al-Quds Al-Arabi via ⁢Mehr ‌News Agency.

The besieged city of El⁣ Fasher⁤ has witnessed intense fighting between the sudanese army and RSF⁤ over recent days. on Sunday, the RSF announced⁣ they had taken control of parts ⁢of the city, including an⁤ army headquarters. Reports ‍indicate mass executions began soon‌ after the city fell under ‌their control.

The joint armed ⁢forces fighting⁤ alongside the Sudanese ⁢military stated that RSF‌ militias committed horrific ‌crimes against innocent civilians in El Fasher. They ‌allege more than 2,000 unarmed⁣ residents-predominantly women, children, and elderly-were executed quietly amid global silence.

In a statement describing events in El‌ Fasher as “war crimes,” “crimes ⁢against humanity,”⁢ and “genocide,” these forces called on the United Nations, Security Council, and international human rights organizations to designate the RSF as a⁤ terrorist group and prosecute those responsible for these atrocities.

The joint force comprises movements that signed the Juba ‍Peace Agreement in 2020. The most prominent among them‍ are the Justice and Equality Movement led by Jibril Ibrahim and Sudan Liberation Movement under Minni Minawi, governor of Darfur region.

The civil Democratic⁢ Alliance of Revolutionary Forces also condemned systematic targeting of civilians in El Fasher. It stressed that what is occurring constitutes blatant violations of ‌international humanitarian ‌law and Geneva Conventions. The alliance demanded an immediate halt to massacres and prosecution of perpetrators.

Sudanese army forces have been ‌engaged with Rapid Support Forces since April 15, 2023. Despite numerous regional and international mediation efforts to end hostilities, no ceasefire has been ⁤achieved. According to both domestic and international reports, approximately 20,000 people have ⁤been killed during this conflict while over 15 million have been⁤ displaced. These figures contrast with ⁤an American university study estimating around 130,000 fatalities since fighting began.
