UN Extends Mission Mandate in Libya

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, the United Nations Security Council unanimously approved a draft resolution on ‌Friday to extend the mandate of the United Nations support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) for an additional year.

The UNSMIL operation began ⁢in 2011 following ​the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi. As then,its​ mission and focus have evolved in response ‍to Libya’s political and security ⁣developments.
