Nigeria Responds to Donald Trump’s Threats

Nigeria’s ⁣Foreign Ministry issues statement in response to ‌threats from US President⁢ Donald Trump.

Nigeria’s government has ‌vowed ⁤to continue its fight⁢ against extremism following ⁣recent threats by US President Donald Trump,who accused Nigeria of threatening Christians and placed the⁢ country on a special ⁤watch list.The declaration was reported by webangah News ⁢Agency based on details from Mehr⁤ News Agency and Al Jazeera.

The Nigerian Foreign Ministry released a ‍statement affirming‌ that the federal⁤ government will continue to defend all citizens nonetheless of race,belief,or religion.

the‍ statement ⁣emphasized that Nigeria is a​ religious country that respects faith, tolerance, diversity, and​ inclusiveness in accordance with international law principles.

On Friday, Trump announced‍ that Nigeria-the largest oil producer and⁣ most populous country‍ in ​africa-was added ​to the “Countries of Particular ‍Concern” ​list ⁤alongside China, Myanmar, North ⁤Korea, Russia, and Pakistan ​for violating religious freedom.

Trump‌ had previously⁢ listed‍ Nigeria during ⁤his first term as president; however, his Democratic successor Joe⁢ Biden removed it ​from the‍ list in 2021.

In ‌a social media‌ post, Trump wrote: “Christianity in Nigeria faces an existential threat. Thousands of​ Christians are⁢ killed ‌by radical Islamists responsible for these massacres.”

Nigeria is home to over 200 ethnic groups‍ practicing Christianity, Islam, and customary religions. ⁢The country has long ​experienced widespread violence-especially targeting Shia ‍Muslims-a repression historically met without objection from successive US administrations.
