Hezbollah Outlines Overall Strategy in Open Letter to Lebanon’s Top Officials
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al-Manar via Mehr News agency, Hezbollah sent an open letter to President Joseph Aoun, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam.
In this letter, Hezbollah emphasized its commitment to national consensus, support for sovereignty, and maintaining security and stability in Lebanon.It expressed readiness to strengthen and uphold Lebanon’s unified stance against ongoing Zionist aggressions that violate a ceasefire declaration resulting from efforts led by U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein. The letter warned against attempts to drag the lebanese government into new negotiation rounds serving only the interests of the Zionist enemy and dominant powers opposed to justice. Hezbollah presented its viewpoint on the current situation as an effective solution for safeguarding Lebanon’s interests at this critical time.
The ceasefire agreement reached on November 27, 2024, aimed at halting Zionist aggressions against Lebanon.This arrangement served as an implementation mechanism for United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 issued in 2006. That resolution designated a specific operational zone exclusively south of the Litani River in Lebanon.The agreement stipulated disarmament of weapons and armed personnel from that area alongside Israeli withdrawal behind the Blue Line.
The preamble stated that these provisions represent a step toward implementing Resolution 1701. According to this resolution, both the Lebanese government and all armed groups within Lebanese territory-including Hezbollah-are prohibited from conducting any operations against Israel. In return,Israel must refrain from any military offensive actions targeting Lebanese land-whether civilian or military infrastructures-by land,air or sea.
The letter asserted that despite clear evidence showing firm adherence by Lebanon and Hezbollah to all ceasefire terms as their enactment, Israel continues violations through incursions on land, sea, and air without heeding repeated calls for halting such hostile acts.
Although some tried interpreting Beirut’s hurried decision on arms monopoly as a goodwill gesture toward Israel and its backers, Hezbollah argued that Israel exploited this misstep by imposing disarmament demands on all resistance forces across Lebanon as a condition for ending hostilities-a demand neither mentioned in nor acceptable under the ceasefire declaration.
Hezbollah stated arms monopoly cannot be discussed under foreign pressure or Israeli blackmail but must be resolved through national dialog based on a thorough strategy encompassing security policies defending sovereignty nationwide.
the party stressed it is indeed crucial for all Lebanese citizens to understand that Israel does not solely target Hezbollah; it targets Lebanon as a whole, aiming to strip it of any ability required to reject extortionate demands imposed by Tel Aviv while forcing submission aligned with Israeli agendas regionally including within Lebanon itself.This reality requires united national resolve founded upon dignity demanding respect for both statehood and citizenry alike along with preservation of sovereignty over one’s honor.
