Afghanistan Holds Pakistan Responsible for Istanbul Talks Failure

According to the English section of webangah News agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Zabihullah mujahid wrote on X about the reasons behind the collapse of the third round of negotiations with Pakistan in Istanbul: Afghanistan once again thanks Turkey and Qatar for hosting and mediating the talks between Afghanistan and Pakistan in Istanbul.
He added that representatives of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan participated in good faith and with full authority on November 6 and 7, hoping that this time Pakistan would enter negotiations with a serious and constructive approach after consulting its leaders. It was expected that the Pakistani delegation would engage responsibly by presenting realistic and actionable demands to reach a fundamental solution.
The Afghan official emphasized that during negotiations, Pakistan tried to evade its responsibilities regarding Afghanistan’s security and even refused to accept duty for securing its own territory. The irresponsible behavior and lack of cooperation from Pakistan’s delegation led to a deadlock despite the Islamic emirate’s goodwill and mediators’ efforts.
mujahid stated, “We will not allow anyone to use Afghan soil against another country.” He also stressed that no country will be permitted to weaken Afghanistan’s sovereignty, independence, or security.
He said: “The Muslim people of Pakistan are our brothers; Taliban wish them well and peace. We will cooperate with them within our responsibilities and capabilities. However, defending the people and land of Afghanistan is our Islamic and national duty.”
