China Suspends Rare Earth Element Export Restrictions to the United States

China suspends rare earth⁣ export restrictions to the US​ until November 2026 as part of recent trade agreement.

According to the ​English section of webangah‌ News Agency, citing‍ Mehr News Agency and Reuters, China’s Ministry of Commerce announced the suspension of export license restrictions on ‌dual-use items related to gallium, ⁤germanium, antimony, and superhard materials destined for the United States. This suspension began on November 8, 2025, and will remain in effect until November 27, 2026.

The ministry’s statement noted ⁢that these‌ restrictions were first imposed in December 2024. Alongside this suspension, China has also halted stringent reviews regarding “end users” and “end uses” for dual-use​ graphite exports to the US.

This move came two days after Beijing announced a suspension of other export controls, including broader limits on rare earth elements and materials⁤ used in lithium batteries.

Chinese President Xi Jinping and former US President Donald Trump had previously agreed to reduce tariffs for one year and suspend further trade actions as part of their trade ⁤negotiations.
