Russia Warns U.S. Over Nuclear Tests
The English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Novosti, reported that Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov reacted to the statement by the US Secretary of State on resuming nuclear tests. He emphasized that Moscow will respond if Washington fails to adhere to the nuclear testing ban.
Peskov added that if Rubio’s remarks are interpreted as a US withdrawal from the treaty banning nuclear tests, this would confirm Washington’s intention. Resuming nuclear weapons testing would mark the end of a relatively long period of such a ban.
He continued, “As our president has previously stated, in this case Russia will act according to the same pattern.”
It is noteworthy that former US President Donald Trump announced on October 29 last year that his country intends to restart nuclear weapons testing.
