Putin: Russia Seeks to Strengthen Comprehensive Strategic Cooperation with Egypt

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Anadolu Agency, Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the inauguration ceremony of the reactor vessel for the first unit of Egypt’s El-Dabaa nuclear power plant via video conference on Wednesday. He emphasized the importance of safeguarding mutual interests in relations with Egypt and expressed Moscow’s desire to deepen bilateral cooperation with Cairo.
Putin added that Egypt’s first nuclear power project is progressing successfully. He stated that these facilities will supply electricity needed for Egypt’s growing economy “in the foreseeable future.”
The Russian president noted Russia’s ongoing support throughout the plant’s operation. He stressed that Russia-Egypt relations are founded on equality, respect, and attention to shared interests, welcoming complete reinforcement of this partnership.
The El-Dabaa nuclear power plant is being constructed based on an agreement between the two countries made in 2015.Once completed, it will include four units with a combined capacity of 4,800 megawatts.
