Pakistan Launches Airstrike on Afghanistan; At Least 10 Killed

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and AFP sources within the Afghan goverment, the Pakistani military conducted airstrikes inside Afghanistan that killed at least 10 civilians. These attacks occurred a day after a suicide bombing targeted Pakistan’s security forces command center in Peshawar, further escalating tensions between the two countries.
Taliban government spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid stated that early this morning, Pakistani warplanes struck a civilian home in Khost province, killing nine children and one woman. He also reported four other civilians wounded in separate attacks near the border areas of Kunar and Paktika provinces.
The Pakistani government and military have not yet commented on these strikes. The developments follow Monday’s suicide attack on the Federal Constabulary headquarters in Peshawar that killed three officers and injured eleven others. Pakistani state media claimed Afghan nationals carried out this attack, while Pakistan’s president held Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan responsible for it.
Relations between Kabul and Islamabad have soured significantly over recent months, especially following intensified border clashes and disagreements regarding the Taliban government’s ties with Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan. So far, negotiations between both sides have failed to yield concrete results.
