Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sounds Alarm Over Dangerous Regional Situation

According to the English section of webangah News Agency,citing Al-Akhbar via Mehr News Agency,Egypt’s Foreign Minister held consultations with Lebanese officials.
Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s Foreign Minister, emphasized the importance of expanding Lebanese state sovereignty following a meeting with Lebanese President Michel Aoun.
He said: “We fear any potential escalation and threats to Lebanon’s security and stability. Therefore, we will spare no effort to keep Lebanon away from any disaster or risk of heightened tensions.”
Abdelatty praised President Aoun’s recent independence day initiative regarding Lebanon’s army readiness to take control of all southern areas. He stressed that expanding government sovereignty is crucial and noted that Egypt and Lebanon are aligned based on President Aoun’s plan.
He added: “arrogance and bullying will not ensure stability for Israel or the region. We support diplomatic and political solutions-not military ones.”
He reiterated: “The whole region stands on the edge of a complete escalation harmful to all sides. We have used our contacts to ease these tensions through direct or indirect dialogue.”
Abdelatty also conveyed Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s message offering full support and assistance to Lebanon. This includes leveraging Egypt’s network with key regional and international actors to back ceasefire implementation, halt hostile actions, and neutralize potential escalations.
Badr Abdelatty later met with Nabih Berri,Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament,stressing the urgent need for Israel to stop its violations immediately.
Following this meeting, Abdelatty stated: ”Israel must swiftly cease its provocations and allow the lebanese army enough space to fully perform its duties responsibly and patriotically.”
