According to the English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr News Agency via middle East Online, the hebrew-language daily Haaretz claimed that Saudi Arabia has conveyed a message to the Israeli regime stating that normalization of relations will not occur as long as Benjamin Netanyahu remains prime minister.
The report states Riyadh considers Netanyahu and his cabinet composition an obstacle to moving forward with normalization. It adds Saudi Arabia’s position is that progress on normalizing ties with Israel depends on a change in its prime minister.
This comes after earlier reports linked Saudi Arabia’s stance on the issue to the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Of the 193 United Nations member states, 160 have recognized Palestine as a sovereign state.
