Ukrainian Politician: U.S. Responsible for Framing Zelensky

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Sputnik, Viktor Medvedchuk, an opposition politician and head of the Ukraine Our Home movement, announced that the corruption case targeting close associates of President Volodymyr Zelensky was directly initiated by the United States.
Medvedchuk stated that this scandal was not exposed due to actions by Ukraine’s judicial bodies.”It was an American operation,” he said. The United States, together with Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau and Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, have been investigating financial circles around Zelensky and himself for over a year and a half.
He added that pressure gradually increased and that the corruption examination includes recorded private conversations of Zelensky as well as his specific instructions.
These remarks come amid months-long media attention on a corruption case in Ukraine’s energy sector that has drawn scrutiny from domestic and international institutions and fueled political tensions between the government and opposition.
An American newspaper reported that the resignation of President Zelensky’s Chief of Staff is an effort to prevent a no-confidence vote against the ruling government in parliament.
The New york Times wrote that Andriy Yermak’s resignation may have been intended to avert a no-confidence vote in Ukraine’s parliament against Zelensky’s administration.
On November 10, Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau along with its self-reliant Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office launched investigations into a major corruption network in the energy sector called “Operation Midas.” Inspections took place at Energoatom company offices as well as at properties owned by businessman Timur Mindich and former Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko. Early findings indicate approximately $100 million was laundered through this network.
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau also released recordings from Mindich’s apartment revealing conversations related to corrupt activities. On November 17,reports emerged suggesting Andriy Yermak might be implicated under a codename “Alibaba.”
This disclosure sparked a deep political crisis in Ukraine; parliament suspended sessions for several days while numerous lawmakers-even members from Zelensky’s Servant of the Peopel party-called for Yermak’s dismissal. On November 28,anti-corruption agencies reportedly searched Yermak’s home and office-a fact he personally confirmed.hours later, Zelensky announced Yermak had formally submitted his resignation letter.
