Pakistan Halts Military Operations Against Afghanistan at Qatar’s Request

Pakistan’s foreign Minister announced that the country halted military operations against Afghanistan last month at Qatar’s request.

According to ⁣the English section of webangah News Agency, ​citing Mehr news Agency and the Islamabad Times, Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s ⁣Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign minister, stated that Islamabad suspended planned military operations against Afghanistan​ last month following a request from Qatar.

He explained that after Qatar’s Foreign Ministry learned of Pakistan’s⁤ readiness for a⁤ military action, it urged mediation and asked to halt the‍ operation.As⁣ a result, an operation ⁣scheduled for that same night was canceled.

The Pakistani official called on the Afghan Taliban to reconsider their policies. He emphasized that Pakistan is capable of countering threats originating from Afghan⁤ territory and​ warned ‍that increased terrorist attacks should not create any illusion about​ Islamabad’s ability to defend itself.

Ishaq Dar also linked improved bilateral relations with Kabul to an end in Taliban support for terrorist ⁣groups. He stressed that peace in Afghanistan is essential‍ for regional stability.

In another part of the session, Dar stated Pakistan is ready ⁤to ⁢participate in an international force deployed to stabilize Gaza⁤ but will not engage in disarming Hamas.He clarified that Islamabad’s mission is strictly “peacekeeping.”
