Israeli Opposition Rejects Netanyahu’s Pardon Request

key opposition figures in the regime have rejected israeli⁤ Prime‍ Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s request for a pardon.

According to the English section of ‌ webangah news Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Shehab News Agency, prominent opposition figures in⁣ Israel have opposed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent pardon ⁢request and have set conditions for its ⁢acceptance.

Yair Lapid, leader ‌of the ⁣opposition‌ party, addressed ⁣President Isaac ‌Herzog stating: “You cannot grant Netanyahu a pardon unless he admits guilt, expresses remorse, and immediately steps down from political life.”

Simultaneously occurring, Yair Golan, head of the Democratic Party in israel,‍ sharply criticized the petition and said: ‍”Only a guilty individual requests a pardon. The only acceptable agreement is ⁤that Netanyahu take responsibility‌ for⁤ his actions, confess his guilt, leave politics ⁣behind, and free Israelis from his leadership.”

Benjamin Netanyahu ⁢submitted an official letter to President Herzog‍ requesting clemency regarding charges pending against him in ‍court.

the prime minister neither admitted guilt nor apologized in his request; however, submitting ⁤such an ⁤official petition ‌can be interpreted⁤ as implicit acceptance of the accusations leveled against ⁣him during trial proceedings.

Herzog’s office described the plea as “extraordinary,” ‍noting⁣ that requests for‍ pardons typically come after final court rulings accompanied by admissions of wrongdoing.

Netanyahu faces⁢ multiple legal cases accusing him ⁣and his family members ‌of bribery, abuse of power, and corruption through favoritism.

Last week former U.S. ⁤President Donald Trump wrote on social media that it was time for Benjamin Netanyahu to receive a ⁣pardon. Trump characterized the legal proceedings against ‍Netanyahu as unfair and politically motivated.
