Pakistan Reports Clashes with Tehrik-e-Taliban in Border Areas

Pakistani security forces‍ have repelled an attack by Tehrik-i-Taliban militants ‍on a border ‍security post in Balochistan.

According to the ⁤English section of⁣ webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News⁣ agency and Pakistan’s Dawn ⁣newspaper, officials stated that ​security​ forces killed at least three militants after a ‌suicide bomber attacked ⁤the main gate of ⁤the Border Security forces headquarters⁢ in Nokundi, Balochistan.

The spokesperson for ​Pakistan’s South ⁣Balochistan Corps reported that attackers affiliated⁣ with the​ banned group Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan attempted a terror assault.

One suicide attacker detonated himself at the base entrance. Rapid response forces promptly engaged and killed three ‍additional militants. clearing operations in the area are‍ ongoing.

The attack followed a series of at least​ seven ‍explosions on⁤ saturday across Quetta and Dera Murad Jamali cities ​in⁢ Balochistan province, disrupting key⁢ railway lines and sowing fear among residents. Several attacks involving grenades and roadside bombs targeted⁣ police and counterterrorism units, though no significant casualties have been reported⁢ so far.

These incidents form part of an escalation in​ terrorist activity across Balochistan and⁢ Khyber ⁢Pakhtunkhwa provinces⁤ after tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan ended its ceasefire in⁤ November 2022, threatening to target security personnel and law enforcement agencies.
