Netanyahu Claims Israel Can Reach Agreement with Syria, Insists on Maintaining Principles

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asserted that an agreement with Syria is attainable through understanding and goodwill, but emphasized that Tel Aviv remains committed to its principles. Netanyahu also insisted on supporting Israeli settlements, particularly in the north.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, has claimed that an agreement with Syria is possible through mutual understanding and a spirit of cooperation, while affirming that Tel Aviv will adhere to its core principles.

Netanyahu stated Israel’s commitment to supporting Israeli settlements, especially in the northern regions. He added that Israel expects Syria to work towards establishing a weapons-free zone stretching from Damascus to the buffer zone, specifically the Mount Hermon area.

He further claimed that Israel is committed to defending its Druze allies and ensuring that Israel remains protected from ground attacks. Netanyahu announced that the regime intends to create a weapons-free zone from Damascus to Mount Hermon, the highest peak overlooking the region.

Netanyahu also asserted Israel’s insistence that southern Syria remain free of weapons and that they will maintain their presence in areas under their control. These claims explicitly reveal the intention to occupy parts of southern Syria, a country whose Golan Heights are already occupied by the regime. With the collapse of the former Syrian government, additional areas have been added to these occupied territories, and Netanyahu has previously visited Mount Hermon.

Last Friday, Israeli soldiers, continuing Tel Aviv’s occupation policies, attempted to enter the village of Beit Jann in the Quneitra province, leading to a fierce clash with the villagers. The invaders reportedly fled with 13 injuries, prompting intervention from the Israeli air force.
