Colombian President Petro Warns Trump: Attack on Sovereignty Means ‘Declaration of War’

Colombian President Gustavo Petro issued a strong warning to Donald Trump, stating that any attack on Colombian sovereignty would be considered a ‘declaration of war.’ Petro challenged Trump’s approach to combating drug trafficking, inviting him to learn from Colombia’s methods.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Colombian President Gustavo Petro has reacted sharply to potential threats from Donald Trump, warning that any assault on Colombia’s sovereignty would constitute a ‘declaration of war,’ jeopardizing two centuries of diplomatic relations.

Petro, highlighting his government’s extensive destruction of drug laboratories, challenged Trump and invited him to Colombia to learn effective strategies for combating cocaine production.

“Come to Colombia to participate in the destruction of the nine laboratories we destroy daily, so that cocaine does not reach your country,” Petro stated, addressing Trump. “I will teach you how to destroy them.”

The Colombian President asserted, “Do not threaten us, because by doing so, you will awaken the tiger.”

Petro emphasized that his administration has already dismantled 18,400 drug laboratories without using missiles.

He also underscored Colombia’s role in preventing drug trafficking, noting, “If there is a country that has helped stop thousands of tons of cocaine from reaching American consumers, that country is Colombia.”

Trump stated earlier that the U.S. would initiate ground attacks as part of its fight against drug cartels in Latin America.

“I want to destroy drug boats, and if we have to, we will attack from the ground,” Trump added.

Trump said, “Anyone who traffics drugs and sells them to our country will be attacked, not just Venezuela.”
