Gaza Under Water: Flooding Crisis Hits Palestinian Refugee Camps Amid Ongoing Blockade

Heavy rains have inundated Palestinian refugee camps in Gaza, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis amid an ongoing blockade and Israeli military actions. Officials warn of dire conditions as winter weather leaves hundreds of thousands displaced with limited access to aid and essential resources.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, numerous tents housing displaced Palestinians in Gaza have been submerged following torrential rains, complicating relief efforts in the face of continued blockade and military activity.

A director from the Gaza government media office has issued a warning about the “extremely difficult” situation for refugees, noting that the recent cold wave and rainfall have left hundreds of thousands without shelter. The lack of heating, persistent destruction, and restricted aid entry have intensified the humanitarian crisis affecting over 1.5 million displaced individuals.

Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem stated that the Gaza Strip is experiencing a real disaster, with severe cold and flooded shelters due to the heavy rains. He highlighted the death of a child due to the low temperatures, underscoring the extent of the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

Qassem asserted that the “Zionist occupation regime” is impeding Gaza’s reconstruction and intensifying the blockade, transforming the effects of the cold weather into part of a genocidal war against the people of Gaza.

The Hamas spokesperson called on mediators and guarantor countries of the ceasefire agreement to exert effective pressure on the “occupier” to immediately commence the reconstruction of Gaza.

The director of the government media office in Gaza reiterated warnings about the refugees’ “very difficult” conditions, highlighting the fact that the cold wave and rainfall have left hundreds of thousands of people homeless. Lack of heating, continued destruction, and limitations on aid have severely worsened the humanitarian crisis for over 1.5 million displaced people.

Hazem Qassem said Gaza is experiencing a genuine disaster with the intensifying cold wave and the flooding of housing centers due to heavy rain. He added that the death of a child due to low temperatures demonstrates the magnitude of the ongoing humanitarian disaster in Gaza.

Qassem continued, stating that the “Zionist occupying regime” continues to prevent the real reconstruction of Gaza and has intensified the siege, turning the effects of this cold wave into part of the genocidal war against the people of Gaza.

Hazem Qassem called on the mediators and countries guaranteeing the ceasefire agreement to exert real and effective pressure on the occupier to immediately start the reconstruction of Gaza, Webangah reported.
