South Africa: Israel suffered a disgraceful defeat at the Hague Court
After Israel's final defense at the International Court of Justice, South Africa's Minister of Justice said that the Israeli regime has suffered a shameful defeat. |
According to the report of Fars International News Agency, the Minister of Justice of South Africa said this Friday that Israel has “disgracefully” failed to reject the complaint filed by South Africa regarding the genocide in Gaza.
Ronald Lamola said: “We are confident that we have presented a convincing case, detailed in criminal detail by our lawyers, and Israel has failed miserably today.”
South Africa’s Minister of Justice added that the country’s lawyers have now provided convincing facts to the court and “the law is on our side.” It was suggested that the representative of Israel appeared in front of this court in the second hearing of South Africa’s complaint at the International Court of Justice and presented his arguments in rejecting South Africa’s complaint.
The first hearing of South Africa’s complaint against Israel for the genocide in Gaza was held yesterday. This session started at 09:00 Thursday morning Greenwich time (12:30 Tehran time).
The representative of South Africa in this court emphasized that the Zionist regime, apartheid policies performs against the Palestinians of the Gaza Strip.
The representative of South Africa stated: “Since 1948, Israel has systematically displaced and dispersed the Palestinian people and deliberately violated their international right to It has deprived them of their self-determination… We are particularly concerned about Israel’s discriminatory laws and policies that seek to apartheid the Palestinian people.” The Hague-based court requested to investigate Israel’s accusation of committing genocide in the Gaza war.
In this 84-page complaint, South Africa states that Israel has violated the provisions of the “Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide”.
Both Israel and South Africa are among the signatories of this convention, which authorizes the jurisdiction of the International Court of Justice as the highest legal authority of the United Nations to deal with disputes.
The session of the International Court of Justice continued until today, and in today’s session, the defense of the representative of the Zionist regime was heard.
All the parties who have signed this treaty have pledged not to commit genocide and to prevent and punish it by other parties. Genocide is defined in this treaty as “committing acts with the intention of destroying, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group”.
South Africa’s representative emphasized that genocide “is never declared in advance”. He said that now “evidence for 13 weeks is at the disposal of the International Court of Justice” which shows that the Israeli regime has committed genocide.
Emphasizing that the situation in Gaza requires the intervention of the international court, he requested the International Court of Justice to take steps against the Zionist regime as in the Rohingya case.
South Africa supports this complaint from all countries that are critical of Israel’s operations in Gaza and to hold this regime accountable for the killing of Palestinians.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Zionist regime claims that South Africa’s statements regarding genocide have no real basis and is an abuse of court and accused South Africa of collaborating with “terrorists”.
A number of countries including Turkey, Malaysia, Venezuela, Brazil and the Islamic Republic of Iran have supported South Africa’s complaint against the Zionist regime.
The South African legal team emphasized that the Zionist regime is violating the human rights convention and said: “The Gaza Strip has become a closed prison where genocide is taking place. Israel does not distinguish between fighters and civilians, and what it does is genocide in the true sense.”
