China’s Wang Yi Rejects Unilateralism in Talks with Venezuelan Foreign Minister

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the importance of national sovereignty and rejected unilateral actions during a phone call with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Gil Pinto, according to a statement released by the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Wednesday.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held discussions with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Gil Pinto, underscoring a mutual rejection of unilateral and bullying behaviors.

In a statement issued by the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Wang Yi affirmed the right of nations to defend their sovereignty and national dignity during the telephone conversation with his Venezuelan counterpart.

The U.S. government, particularly during Donald Trump’s presidency, has attempted to undermine the legitimacy of the Caracas government by leveling accusations, including allegations of drug trafficking against Nicolas Maduro and other senior Venezuelan officials, seeking to establish legal and political grounds for his ouster.

Washington has used these allegations as a pretext to intensify sanctions, block assets, and increase international pressure against Venezuela. The Maduro government has consistently described these allegations as baseless and politically motivated.
