Mazandaran Governor: Economic Ties with Uzbekistan Set to Multiply

Mazandaran Province is poised to significantly expand its economic relations with Uzbekistan, according to Governor Mehdi Younesi Rostami. Rostami highlighted the historical and cultural ties between the two nations during a joint business forum in Uzbekistan.

According to the Economic Desk of Webangah News Agency, Mazandaran Province Governor Mehdi Younesi Rostami anticipates a considerable increase in economic cooperation with Uzbekistan. His remarks followed a joint business forum attended by Iranian and Uzbekistani business leaders, as well as members of the Uzbekistani Chamber of Commerce.

Rostami expressed hope that the meeting would be productive and lead to concrete achievements through precise goal-setting. He noted that a strong connection has already been established between businesspeople from Mazandaran and Uzbekistan, and he anticipates that these relationships will grow substantially.

Highlighting the shared scientific and cultural heritage of the two countries, Rostami noted that Uzbekistan, like Iran, possesses an ancient civilization, which has motivated them to continue and expand their collaboration.

The governor also emphasized Mazandaran’s capacity to ensure part of Iran’s food security, noting that the province holds the top rank in the country for 13 of its 50 diverse products.

Rostami further stressed the importance of a more active Persian Gulf and the potential for new transportation routes to reduce the cost of essential goods transfers by up to 30 percent.

An economic delegation from Mazandaran, led by Governor Rostami and including approximately 100 investors and economic actors, traveled to Uzbekistan on Wednesday, December 17, with the goal of increasing trade cooperation, showcasing the province’s capabilities, creating new export routes, and boosting Mazandaran’s economy in Central Asian markets, according to a public relations statement released by the Mazandaran Governorate.
