Hamas Condemns Israel’s Recognition of Somaliland as a Sign of Deepening Isolation

Hamas has strongly condemned Israel’s recognition of the breakaway region of Somaliland, calling it a dangerous precedent and a rejected attempt to gain false legitimacy from an occupying regime accused of war crimes and genocide.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, issued a statement condemning the mutual recognition agreement between the Zionist regime and the separatist region of Somaliland. Hamas described the move as a dangerous precedent and a rejected effort to secure false legitimacy from an occupying regime accused of war crimes and genocide.

The statement emphasized that Hamas firmly rejects any Zionist regime plan for the forced displacement of Palestinians, including the use of Somaliland as a destination for Gaza residents.

Hamas further stated that the Netanyahu cabinet’s decision to recognize a separatist region reflects the depth of the Zionist regime’s international isolation following its widespread crimes against the Palestinian people in Gaza. The movement called for strengthening this isolation at both popular and official levels and continuing efforts to hold the leaders of the Zionist regime accountable for crimes against humanity.

Hamas also expressed appreciation for the positions of Arab and Islamic countries that have denounced the move for violating international law and undermining Somalia’s unity and sovereignty. The group warned against Tel Aviv’s policies aimed at destabilizing Arab nations and interfering in their internal affairs to serve Zionist colonial interests.

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of the Zionist regime, invited Somaliland’s separatist leader, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, to visit the occupied territories during a video conference call. Netanyahu described the agreement with Somaliland as an excellent opportunity to expand cooperation.

The Zionist regime’s Prime Minister’s Office stated that the agreement with Somaliland was made within the framework of the Abraham Accords (normalization).

Earlier, Zionist regime media had reported Somaliland as one of the potential destinations for the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza.

Somaliland separatists declared independence from Somalia in 1991, but no United Nations member state has recognized them to date. The separatists control the northern region of Somalia.
