Taliban Condemns Terrorist Attack on Mosque in Syria

The Taliban-led Afghan government has strongly condemned yesterday’s terrorist attack on a mosque in Homs, Syria, expressing condolences to the Syrian people and government.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Taliban-led caretaker government of Afghanistan has issued a statement condemning the terrorist attack on a mosque in Homs, Syria. The Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the attack in the strongest terms and extended its condolences to the Syrian government and people.

Last night, a group calling itself ‘Saraya Ansar al-Sunna’ claimed responsibility for the explosion at the Imam Ali Mosque in Homs. The extremist group has vowed to continue attacks against Syria’s religious minorities. Saraya Ansar al-Sunna had previously claimed responsibility for an attack on a church in Damascus in June.

Meanwhile, Hamza al-Mustafa, a minister in Syria’s self-proclaimed government, accused ISIS of being behind the terrorist operation in Homs. Local sources reported that eight people were killed and 18 others wounded in the blast, which occurred in the Alawite-majority neighborhood of Wadi al-Dhahab in Homs.
