Iraqi Official Hails US Troop Withdrawal from Ain al-Asad Airbase as Positive Step

Abdul Hadi Abdi, a member of Iraq’s Coordination Framework coalition, stated that the withdrawal of US forces from Ain al-Asad airbase sends a strong message of national unity against foreign military presence, highlighting Iraq’s enhanced security capabilities.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Abdul Hadi Abdi, a member of Iraq‘s Coordination Framework coalition, emphasized that the withdrawal of US troops from Ain al-Asad airbase in western Iraq carries significant positive implications. He stated that the move reflects a unified national stance against foreign military presence in the country.

Abdi further noted that Iraq now possesses highly capable security forces equipped to counter both internal and external threats. He asserted that Iraq no longer requires foreign military bases on its soil, and expelling these forces will strengthen national sovereignty.

The Iraqi official added that this development demonstrates to the international community that Iraq enjoys strong security stability and relies on its domestic forces. He described the withdrawal as a promising step toward ending foreign military presence in Iraq, particularly at al-Harir airbase.

It is worth noting that the Iraqi parliament had previously approved legislation mandating the expulsion of foreign troops from the country.
