475 High-Risk ISIS Members Transferred from Syria to Iraq

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, 475 high-risk ISIS members have been transferred from Syria to Iraq in four groups as of Tuesday night, according to data published by the Mehr News Agency citing Rudaw. Two senior security sources confirmed the operation, noting that 95% of the detainees are non-Iraqi, with the vast majority being Syrian nationals.
One security source stated that these prisoners, previously held in the Ghweiran prison, are among the most dangerous ISIS operatives and include senior leaders of the terrorist organization. Another source told Rudaw that transferring all remaining detainees within the limited timeframe may not be possible, making an extension of the ceasefire agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) necessary. The ceasefire was originally established to support U.S.-backed operations to move ISIS prisoners from SDF detention facilities to Iraq.
