Turkey Opposes U.S. Military Action Against Iran, Favors Dialogue

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has declared that military intervention against Iran would be detrimental to all parties involved, emphasizing Ankara’s preference for diplomatic solutions and ongoing high-level consultations with both Tehran and Washington.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated on February 16, 2026, that an attack on Iran would not benefit any party. He highlighted Turkey‘s ongoing high-level consultations with both nations and reiterated Ankara’s opposition to military intervention against Iran, which has been communicated to the American side.

Erdoğan emphasized Turkey’s commitment to resolving issues between Iran and the United States through negotiation and dialogue, noting that the country is actively engaged at the highest levels with both nations to foster communication and exchange views.

Regarding regional developments, the Turkish President expressed hope that the Peace Council would lead to the establishment of stability and a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. Concerning developments in Syria, he stressed Turkey’s close monitoring of the integration steps of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and presented proposals for the implementation of this agreement.

Furthermore, Erdoğan addressed the European security equation, asserting that it cannot be discussed without Turkey’s involvement and that the country will make significant positive contributions to the European Union.
