Lebanese Prime Minister: Israel Pursuing Policy of Widespread Destruction

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam announced that Lebanon is facing a dangerous and unprecedented escalation of tensions from Israel. He asserted that Israel is not merely targeting specific locations but is implementing a policy of widespread destruction and forced displacement.
The Lebanese Prime Minister further elaborated that Israel is targeting archaeological sites, some of which are globally recognized, an action that constitutes a violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He affirmed that the government will spare no effort in achieving a ceasefire, compelling Israel’s withdrawal, and reconstructing Lebanon.
Salam highlighted that this war has been imposed on Lebanon and is currently exacting a heavy toll. He emphasized the government’s determination to protect the country and prevent it from becoming a pawn in regional power dynamics.
He indicated that the government views engaging in negotiations as a more suitable and less costly option, stating that there can be no bargaining on the issues of complete withdrawal, the return of captives, reconstruction, and the repatriation of displaced persons to their homeland.
The Lebanese Prime Minister pointed out that Lebanon is strengthened when efforts are unified under the umbrella of governance, without unilateral actions. He stressed that Lebanon is entering negotiations as a unified entity representing all Lebanese, and the decisions regarding war and peace must reside with the government.
He underscored that Israel will not achieve security through destruction.
