US Senators Criticize Trump’s Controversial Intelligence Appointment

US Senators have voiced strong criticism regarding President Donald Trump’s appointment of Bill Poultney as acting Director of National Intelligence, citing concerns over his lack of security experience and alleged targeting of political opponents.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, based on data published by Mehr News Agency, quoting the Associated Press, Democratic lawmakers in the United States have criticized the actions of the country’s president, pointing to Bill Poultney’s lack of experience in security and intelligence matters and his alleged targeting of Trump’s opponents.

Senator Mark Warner emphasized that Poultney’s selection was apparently based on the White House’s belief that he would present their desired narrative rather than the information the country needs.

Chuck Schumer, the Senate Minority Leader, also stated that someone who makes baseless political accusations against officials they oppose cannot be trusted to protect the nation’s national security.

Schumer’s remarks referred to Poultney’s alleged fabrication of cases against Trump’s opponents.

US President Donald Trump appointed Bill Poultney as the acting Director of National Intelligence on Tuesday. This appointment comes despite Poultney reportedly lacking sufficient experience in national security. Notably, it has been stated that Poultney will also continue his current role overseeing housing and loan policies.
