Israeli Emigration Surges as Returnees Plummet 53%

Recent reports from the Knesset reveal a significant 53% decrease in Israelis returning to occupied territories between 2022 and 2024, coinciding with a notable rise in those departing, according to data cited by Yedioth Ahronoth.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a recent official report from the Knesset indicates a sharp decline in the number of Israelis returning to the occupied territories in recent years, while simultaneously, the number of those leaving has increased. Yedioth Ahronoth reported this development on Monday, referencing a study by the Knesset’s Research and Information Center.

This report emerges amidst widespread public and official global outrage directed at Israel due to the U.S.-backed genocidal war against Gaza, which commenced on October 8, 2023. This conflict has resulted in the martyrdom of over 73,000 Palestinians and left more than 174,000 wounded, predominantly women and children, while devastating 90% of Gaza’s infrastructure. The United Nations has estimated reconstruction costs to be approximately $70 billion.

The Knesset report highlights a severe 53% reduction in the number of returning residents during the period of 2022 to 2024, as noted by the newspaper. The report did not provide figures for Israeli return rates in 2025.

The newspaper further stated that this decline aligns with recently published data from Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics and academic researchers, which collectively show a significant increase in the number of Israelis emigrating from the country.
