US Navy Deploys Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group to Middle East

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Navy officials announced on Wednesday that the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, along with its crew of 5,000 personnel, will commence a deployment to the Middle East within the coming weeks. This mission is anticipated to last at least seven months.

This deployment occurs at a time when the U.S. Navy continues to grapple with the repercussions of the crisis aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln while it was operating in the region. The USS Abraham Lincoln spent over 250 days at sea during its mission, without docking at any port.

This extended deployment raised concerns regarding the mental health of the sailors, including instances of attempted suicide and shortages of essential equipment and supplies aboard the carrier. Vice Admiral Darryl C. Kadyl, Commander of U.S. Naval Operations, acknowledged the strain placed on the U.S. fleet by operations concerning Iran, stating that the Navy aims to improve the predictability of mission schedules, although operational demands may complicate this objective.

The USS George Washington replaced the USS Abraham Lincoln last week, and the latter is expected to dock in a port in Thailand in the near future.
