Trump Escalates Anti-Iran Rhetoric, Claims Nation ‘Bankrupt’ Amidst Regional Tensions
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday reiterated his anti-Iran stance on his social media platform, Truth Social, claiming the nation is “officially bankrupt and collapsed” and its “end is near.” Trump’s remarks come as he seeks to de-escalate domestic tensions exacerbated by a costly intervention in Iran.
Disregarding heightened concerns within the U.S. military regarding potential retaliation from Iran’s navy, Trump asserted that Iran lacks a navy, an air force, and even national currency, failing to pay its soldiers and police officers. He also targeted media outlets, broadening his prior claims of CIA and Mossad-backed sabotage in Iran last year. Trump alleged that Iran’s primary assets are “fake news” about the United States, a penchant for killing protesters—claiming an inflated death toll of over 100,000 and suggesting they should face war crimes tribunals—and an adeptness at fabricating baseless narratives.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump also stated that the U.S. would deliver a “heavy blow” to Iran in response to its attack on American forces in Jordan. He contended that existing U.S. sanctions against Iran are taking effect and that American air defense systems intercepted all missiles, except for one that did not pose a significant threat.
This rhetoric follows a Sunday evening “aggressive and desperate” attack by what is described as an “American-Zionist enemy” targeting two launchpads of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s armed forces on Qeshm Island. The attack resulted in casualties among Iranian fighters and citizens.
The Public Relations department of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) condemned the aggression, stating that the “American-Zionist enemy, driven by its inability to resolve internal issues and declining regional credibility, is attempting to revive its sinister role.” The IRGC vowed that the actions of “Iran’s sons” would be met with a response and retribution for the aggressor.
IRGC spokesperson Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi emphasized that the move represented a “strategic and fatal error by the Trump regime amid the economic war,” warning that the enemy would face consequences for this miscalculation in both economic and military spheres.
Hours after the alleged aggression, the IRGC’s Aerospace Force launched a combined missile and drone operation, codenamed “Ya Muhammad ibn Abdullah (PBUH).” Iranian forces reportedly struck and inflicted heavy damage on the technical and repair infrastructure, as well as the fighter jet deployment areas, at two American air bases, King Hussein Air Base and Al-Azraq Air Base, in Jordan, utilizing ballistic missiles.
