Venezuelan Opposition and Allies Criticize Oil Deal with Trump Administration

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and The Wall Street Journal, both the Venezuelan opposition and the leftist allies of Rodriguez are critical of the country’s oil agreement with the Trump administration.

The Bolivarian leftist factions consider this agreement a concession to North American imperialism and intend to leverage this issue from a nationalist perspective if elections are held. The opposition within Venezuela contends that the country’s illegitimate president should not hand over national resources to a foreign government. Furthermore, this group fears that the aforementioned agreement might reduce the likelihood of Trump and the U.S. Secretary of State calling for new elections in the country.

It is noteworthy that U.S. strategic oil reserves have reached their lowest level since November 1982. The administration of Donald Trump has now identified Venezuelan oil as a primary source for replenishing these reserves.
