Russia and Iran Focus on Air Defense in Military Cooperation

Russia’s Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation announced that air defense systems have become the primary focus of extensive military collaboration between Russia and Iran, alongside aviation equipment.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russia and Iran are engaged in extensive military cooperation, with a significant emphasis placed on air defense systems and aviation equipment, as stated by the head of Russia’s Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC).

Dmitry Shugayev, the head of the FSMTC, revealed in an interview with Vesti that air defense systems have emerged as the central pillar of the military-technical cooperation between Russia and Iran. He emphasized that Iran’s current priority lies with these advanced defense systems, a matter that has been under consideration for an extended period.

Shugayev also noted that Iran is already equipped with the Russian S-300 system, which he described as having “very effective performance.” He further indicated that the full spectrum of armaments offered for export to strategic partners, including Iran, remains on the agenda for their ongoing collaborative efforts.
