US Treasury Secretary Claims Iran Seeks to Leverage Strait of Hormuz, Predicts Obsolescence

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Tuesday attempted to justify some of the economic difficulties facing the nation, attributing them to the repercussions of former President Donald Trump’s costly actions against Iran. Bessent made a spurious claim, alleging that Iran seeks to use the Strait of Hormuz to exert immense pressure on numerous countries, not solely the United States.

The Treasury Secretary, facing the imminent defeat of his Republican colleagues in the upcoming midterm congressional elections, endeavored to explain some of his government’s failures, despite expending tens of billions of dollars in aggression against Tehran. He stated, “The Iranians are trying to use the Strait of Hormuz as a strategic chokehold. This strait is not a chokehold for the United States, but for many other countries, it is a very important chokehold.”

Scott Bessent further asserted, “Within two years, this chokehold will be circumvented. In two years, the Strait of Hormuz will become a worthless body of water.”
