WHO Warns of Escalating Water Contamination and Disease Outbreak Risk in Gaza

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the World Health Organization (WHO) has emphasized that the worsening humanitarian and health crisis in the Gaza Strip, compounded by the approaching winter and a severe lack of essential living resources, is leading to an increasingly dire situation. The organization noted that living conditions in the overcrowded tents across Gaza are highly unfavorable, with the scarcity of potable water remaining a significant challenge for residents, who have been unable to meet even their minimal drinking water requirements.

The WHO further stated that water contamination levels in samples collected from Gaza between January and August of last year were three times higher than in previous periods. This elevated water pollution has led to a surge in severe diarrhea cases among Gaza’s population, with 48,000 cases recorded in August alone.

The international health body also pointed to the looming rainy season, which threatens to flood the tents of displaced individuals, alongside a critical shortage of food and the escalating risk of infectious disease outbreaks.
