Israel Launches Attacks on Damascus Outskirts and Southern Syria Amidst Stalled Security Talks

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Israeli regime has once again committed aggressive and occupying acts in Syria, as reported by Al Mayadeen via Mehr News Agency.

Local Syrian sources reported that the occupying army targeted the vicinity of Tel Bait al-Wardah, near the town of Beit Jinn in Rif Dimashq, with four rockets. Additionally, Israeli forces fired mortar shells at the Eastern Al-Ahmir heights in southern Quneitra, in southern Syria. The occupiers also established a checkpoint in the village of Umm Batnah in the Quneitra countryside, searching Syrian citizens.

These developments occur as a senior Israeli official told Hebrew media that efforts to reach a security agreement with Syria have so far been unsuccessful, though discussions concerning security arrangements in southern Syria are ongoing.

According to this Israeli official, the core of the disagreement centers on a ‘buffer zone.’ Tel Aviv is unwilling to reach a security agreement that would necessitate a withdrawal from this region, considering it a significant security achievement and believing that security arrangements should not include its evacuation.

The Hebrew newspaper Maariv reported that Israel believes the initiative by the United States and other countries to lift some sanctions against Syria has impacted relations between the two parties, reducing Syria’s motivation to reach an agreement with Israel.
